Ultherapy® is a non-invasive skin-lifting and tightening procedure that uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production deep within the skin’s foundational layers. The treatment gradually lifts and firms areas such as the face, neck, chin, and décolletage, improving tone and definition without surgery or downtime.

Results develop gradually over the following 8–12 weeks as new collagen forms, revealing a smoother, firmer, more youthful appearance.

1–2 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners on the treatment area.
  • Discontinue chemical peels, microneedling, or laser procedures for at least 2 weeks prior.
  • Avoid NSAIDs or blood-thinning supplements (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginkgo) for 3–5 days, if medically permitted, to reduce bruising risk.
  • Notify your provider of any recent injectable treatments (Botox, fillers, Sculptra, Kybella, etc.). Some procedures may require a waiting period before Ultherapy®.
  • Maintain hydration—drink 64 oz of water daily leading up to your session.

Day of Treatment

  • Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or perfume on the treatment area.
  • Eat a light meal before your appointment to prevent light-headedness.
  • You may take acetaminophen (Tylenol®) one hour prior if you are sensitive to discomfort.
  • Do not wear jewelry or metal accessories on or near the treatment area.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treated region.
  • Inform your provider of any medical implants, recent dental work, or medical conditions that could affect treatment.

Immediately After

  • Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or tingling may occur and typically subsides within a few hours.
  • Some patients experience temporary skin sensitivity or mild bruising—this is normal.
  • Avoid applying makeup, lotion, or topical products for at least 12 hours post-procedure.

First 48 Hours

  • Do not expose the treated area to extreme heat or cold (saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, ice packs, or sunbathing).
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sweating for 24–48 hours.
  • Cleanse the skin gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water; pat dry.
  • You may use a soothing moisturizer or aloe-based gel if the skin feels dry or tight.

Following Week

  • Avoid exfoliants, scrubs, or active ingredients (retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid) for at least 5–7 days.
  • Continue applying SPF 30+ sunscreen daily to protect newly treated skin and prevent collagen breakdown.
  • Refrain from other aesthetic procedures (laser, microneedling, chemical peel, filler) for at least 2 weeks, unless cleared by your provider.
  • Collagen remodeling occurs gradually, with visible results developing over 2–3 months and continuing to improve up to 6 months.
  • Most patients achieve their best results with one full treatment, though follow-up or touch-up sessions may be recommended annually based on your skin’s needs.
  • Maintain results with consistent sun protection, proper skincare, and adequate hydration.

Call the clinic if you experience:

  • Persistent redness, swelling, or pain lasting beyond 72 hours
  • Blistering, bruising, or significant tenderness
  • Signs of infection (warmth, drainage, or fever)
