How Does NOUVADerm Work?
NOUVADerm uses a 1927 nm thulium wavelength that targets water within the skin.
The laser creates tiny controlled treatment zones while leaving the surrounding skin intact. Those treated areas begin a resurfacing response, while the untouched skin around them helps support healing.
The device can also be used at non-ablative, sub-ablative, and ablative settings. In practical terms, that gives us room to change the depth and intensity depending on the area we’re treating and how much correction is needed.
What Is NOUVADerm Treatment and Recovery Like?
NOUVADerm is performed in our Wellesley office. As the laser passes across your skin, you may feel warmth or sensitivity.
After treatment, your skin may look red or feel warm or sensitive for a while. How much recovery you need depends in part on how aggressively we treat.
That is one of the reasons the adjustable settings matter. Someone looking for a lighter refresh and someone trying to address more noticeable sun damage may not need the same treatment intensity.

How many NOUVADerm treatments will I need?
